What Ottawa is Talking About – 18 February 2022

▪️The O-Train is not running between Pimisi Station and Hurdman Station today. OC Transpo is blaming both the Trucker toss-out and the weather for the closures, but considering its a beautiful sunny day and the O Train, you can be sure that it's because of the weather. [Ottawa Citizen]

+ Related Buses on several routes servicing downtown will be free to ride for 30 days starting Sunday, thanks to a vote requested by Councillor Catherine McKenney. The free ride will be from any bus stop on routes 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 55, 56, 85, and 114.

▪️Uber reports that Ottawa riders are the worst rated in Canada. Riders and drivers can rate each other after a ride. If either rating gets too low, they won't be able to ride or drive with Uber any longer. Uber has also provided – for the first time – a way to see how many ratings of 1 to 5 a rider has received. Darren just looked and received 170 five stars and 4 one stars. He's going to be consumed by those one stars for the next week. Why? Why? Oh, why? [CTV] [Uber Ratings]

▪️Other classic NarCity headline: ‘This $300K House Near Ottawa Seems Normal But Inside Looks Like A Zombie Apocalypse’. They are not wrong, the two-storey 12 room house in Gatineau is fine on the outside and looks like it has been underwater on the inside. [NarCity]

▪️The University of Ottawa has agreed to divest of all investments in fossil fuels by 2023. It has also agreed to divest of all indirect investments – like mutual funds – by 2030. Students have been pressuring the University to do this since 2014. [The Fulcrum]

▪️The City has lifted the no-tobogganing advisory in City parks. Sled safe, everyone. [City of Ottawa]
