What Ottawa is Talking About – 11 February 2022
▪️Ottawa's planning committee has approved the four-storey above ground garage for the new Ottawa Hospital on top of Queen Juliana Park. The monstrosity will hold 2,500 cars, loom over Dow's Lake, and destroy 700 trees. The hospital itself will not have a connection to the O-Train line, which is located on the other side of the highway. To replace the public Queen Juliana Park, there will be a private green space on top of the garage. [CBC]
▪️Gun charges against Hip-hop artist TwoTiime have been stayed. Khalid Omar, whose stage name is TwoTiime, was arrested at home by the Ottawa Police Service and charged with carrying and pointing a firearm at another person on a previous date. Omar does not have a criminal record for anything. Omar's lawyer says Omar is ‘vindicated’ and that Omar is not only innocent of the charge but that he was no where near the scene. [Ottawa Citizen]
▪️Apartment 613 has released their latest urban walk: Westboro. [Apt 613]
