Wednesday Food + Drink Roundup – 14 July 2021

▪️Three Tarts will satisfy your summer sweet tooth with a range of cheesecakes, crumbles, and pies, not to mention tarts, all with rhubarb, lemon, carrot, almond, and berry fillings. Visit them in person during their new summer hours (Wednesday to Sunday noon to 5:00pm) or order online by 5pm for next day pick up or delivery.

▪️Last week we told you about the Scottish Society of Ottawa's Rest in Poetry series commemorating the death of Robert Burns. Register for the Burns225 Rest in Poetry Pub Patio Celebration this Saturday July 17 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, when you can visit a selection of patios to enjoy events celebrating the Scottish bard. Get ready for whisky tastings, Scottish food (it’s more than just haggis), and a virtual tour of the Globe Inn in Dumfries, Scotland where Burns wrote many of his famous works.

▪️East India Company Restaurants reintroduces its famous buffets in its two Ottawa locations this Friday evening, July 16. Strict COVID safety measures will be in place, including contact tracing, sanitizer stations, and distancing. Reservations at the 210 Somerset and 1993 Robertson Rd locations are recommended.

▪️Feel good while you scarf down delicious cake and coffee at Oh So Good Desserts at 25 York Street. .25 cents from every cup of North Brew coffee sold in the month of July will be donated to the Ottawa Food Bank.

▪️Incredibly, Korean corn dogs (K-Dogs) have been a part of the weekend menu at Drip House for over a year now. These batter fried beef smokies or veggie dogs with mozzarella cheese and smothered in your choice of toppings and sauces, are already a firm favourite on Ottawa’s food scene. Experience what the food bloggers have been drooling over with a visit to the original Drip House location in Hintonburg (340B Parkdale Avenue) or the new Chinatown location, 692 Somerset St. West.

▪️As long as the weather permits, the patio at New Edinburgh’s Fraser restaurant has opened for dining from 12:00pm to 2:30pm and from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Fraser is also hiring, and invites servers with two to three years’ experience to apply for full and part time positions. 7 Springfield Road.

▪️The Citizen was ‘meh’ about Prohibition Public House when it opened five years ago. Peter now thinks that they have upped their game.
