Ottawans of the Day: Richard Patterson and Ian McLeish. Yesterday, we wrote about a Jimi Hendrix recording of Joni Mitchell singing from 1968 resurfacing. There's more to it!  The recording was missing because it was stolen from a vehicle at the time. When Ottawa musician (and drummer from the 60s band The Esquires) Richard Patterson died in 2011, his estate asked his friend Ian McLeish to digitize decades worth of tapes Patterson had collected from friends and studios. That's when McLeish found the lost song, The Dawntreader. [Global]

Quote: ‘There are persistent theories that the (cat) killer is human but the OHS has come to believe that the evidence points to the perpetrator as a coyote or coyotes’ – Bruce Roney, president and CEO of the Ottawa Humane Society, who is getting frustrated a persistant rumours that a person is killing cats in Ottawa when all evidence says that it is coyotes.  [Ottawa Citizen]
