Let’s go out to dinner – 8 July 2021

▪️Beyond the Pale brewing can sort you out with burgers from their BTP Brewing Smoque House menu. Visit the taproom and enjoy the new The Big Eh!, a two smashed patty burger with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles. Add a combo side of Potato Salad, Slaw, and Corn Bread and the recommended Clean Cut beer. That’s dinner sorted. Unit 108, 250 City Centre Avenue. Open 11:00am too late.

▪️Embrace the countryside for an early dinner at Calabogie Brewing. The patio’s open rain or shine, and they’ll set you up with fresh quesadillas, sandwiches, pizza, German-style pretzels, and other beer-enhancing items. Speaking of beer, Front Porch Kölsch style ale is a tasty summer beer that pairs great with food. 12612 Lanark Road location open until 7:00pm.

▪️If you crave bustle-free dining and killer views, head to Umbrella Ottawa in the pavilion at Dows Lake, where you can ignore the unseasonable weather with a carafe of Sangria and a plate of oysters. No reservations. 1001 Queen Elizabeth Driveway, Ottawa.

▪️For something a little adventurous, Das Lokal’s Waffle Smoked Salmon Tartine places smoked salmon on a buckwheat waffle with quark, pickled onions, and dill. Enjoy it with a Das Shrub: a cocktail with your choice of vodka, gin, or tequila and sweet Vermouth, Punch D’abruzzo, house made berry-balsamic shrub, bitters, and Prosecco. 190 Dalhousie Street, Ottawa.

▪️Orléans’ newest pub, The Bad Alibi offers classic grub like fish and chips and pasta, but you’ll also find plenty to satisfy veggie cravings. The Beet Salad mixes plums, beets, and strawberries on mixed greens, and tops it all off with goat cheese, walnuts, and a raspberry vinaigrette. Aside from the amazing flavours, imagine the colours of this fabulous salad! Round it off with a selection of Ottawa’s best local craft beers. 5935 Jeanne D’Arc Blvd S, Orléans.
