Good Monday Morning, Ottawa
If you are on the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), then you should apply this week for the second payment, which covers April 12 to May 9.
Like last time, today is for those born Jan/Feb/Mar, tomorrow is for Apr/May/Jun, Wednesday is July/Aug/Sept, and Thursday is Oct/Nov/Dec. People born in any month may apply Friday through Sunday.
The money isn’t intended only to ensure you are fed and keep a roof over your head, it’s also an injection into the economy to keep from from imploding. But that plan won’t work if everyone buys their goods through Amazon.
There is almost nothing that we need that can’t be sourced locally, and your neighbours need the business.
Shop Ottawa is a search engine for items that you can still buy locally
Local Eats Ottawa has an up-to-date list of restaurants with food delivery or pickup.
Apt13 has a great curated list of 62 Ottawa restaurants offering delivery and takeout during COVID-19
SavourOttawa.ca features locally produced food and beverages from the Ottawa region.
Together-Apart.ca Mostly restaurants but some retail

And lastly, some techies have created this Grocery Store Wait Estimator. Using data from Google, you can locate grocery stores with the shortest wait time. Spooky but useful.
