COVID-19 NEWS

⭕ Omicron has a subvariant named BA.2, which is rising in Canada. However, experts think that the high vaccination rate of Canadians against COVID-19 will not result in BA.2 creating a surge. BA.2 is considered easier to spread but it's not yet clear if its harm is different. [CBC]

⭕ Quebec City-based Medicago has had their COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada. This one is derived from plants, which is good for people allergic to the other shots or are put off by the Trudeau Foundation taking 40 per cent of the profits of other vaccines. (Obviously, that part is not true but it was on Darren's Facebook this morning. Sigh.) [CBC]
