Weekly update for Wednesday July 3

  • As if we needed another reason to be excited that Merry Dairy’s Postal Code popups start its Summer 2024 run on Saturday: Aurelius Fine Oils & Balsamics are sponsoring a free Merry Dairy ice cream for the first 50 customers. Find out where and when the truck will show up here.
  • Maker Feed Co continues its series of special dining events with a California Night tasting menu on Thursday August 29. Try wine products from Napa Valley, Sonoma, Mendocino, Carneros, Santa Rosa, and others, and a menu featuring five courses.
  • The chef-owner of Atelier, Marc Lepine, is opening a second 20 seat restaurant on Somerset Street West called La Petite Sauterelle.  ‘The Little Grasshopper’ will feature a year round indoor vegetable garden. Lepine says ‘Seasons will be eliminated, it will be constant summer and the menu will showcase that’. He expects to open La Petite Sauterelle later this year.
  • Apt 613 has a story on Black Ottawa foodies: Revello Williamson of Reviews by Revello (Instagram), Nadia Murisa of Spotted Ottawa (Instagram), and Alyssa Brown of Ottawa Eats (also Instagram).
  • Tickets are now on sale – and they always sell out – for The Chef’s Table at the National Arts Centre. Tables are for 2, 4, 6, or 8 people and you must book the entire table. The line-up will be:

    Chef Leah Marshall Hannon of Stella’s Eatery in Prince Edward County. Music by Shawn Tavenier and Kelly Prescott.

    July 18 – 20

    Chef Pascal Ménard, the executive chef for Global Affairs Canada and Rideau Gate. Music by Mackenzie & Friends.

    July 25 – 27

    Chef Connor McQuay, executive sous-chef at the National Arts Centre. Music by Mikhail Laxton and Rebecca Noelle.

    National Arts Centre executive chef Kenton Leier will co–chef each night.
